Description

Traditional shaker from Peru

Our shaman rattle Shipibo is made from the so-called tutuma fruit of the gourd tree by the women of the Shipibo-Conibo people in Peru. Traditionally, the shaman receives melodies and ornamental lines from the transcendent world during an ayahuasca ceremony. He then passes on the graphic patterns, called quené, to the women of the community. The Shipibo women then materialize the quené on textiles, vessels or rattles. The latter help the healer to fall into a trance and serve to harmonize the world and people.
The traditionally made shaman rattles sound bright and loud. They can be used in shamanic journeys, healing rituals or as a rhythm instrument.
