Compact elegance with the character of a genuine grand

With a depth of just 161 centimetres, the C1X is the most compact grand piano in its series, making it a great fit for slightly smaller living rooms or small halls. The CX Series Special Hammersystem action delivers a precise, nuanced touch across the entire keyboard, from the gentlest pianissimo to the most powerful fortissimo. The Ivorite (white) and WPC (black) key surfaces feel pleasantly grippy under the fingers and retain their feel even during long playing sessions.

TransAcoustic TA3 – volume control without compromise

At the heart of TA3 technology: the piano's soundboard itself is set into vibration and acts as a natural resonating body – in TransAcoustic mode, volume can be adjusted continuously without losing the instrument's authentic acoustic character. In Silent mode, you play entirely through headphones, while Grand Expression Modeling and Virtual Resonance Modelling recreate the subtle tonal nuances of a real grand piano. The samples are taken from Yamaha's own CFX concert grand and the Bösendorfer Imperial, captured using binaural recording for a particularly spatial listening experience through headphones. The Quick Escape System optimises the hammer-to-string distance, so the grand still feels familiar to play even in TransAcoustic or Silent mode.

Wireless connectivity and creative possibilities

Via Bluetooth MIDI, the C1X TA3 connects to the Smart Pianist app on your smartphone or tablet, letting you select and edit voices with just a tap. The grand can also be used as a Bluetooth Audio speaker for external music. With up to 256-voice polyphony, 19 preset voices plus 480 XG voices, 20 rhythm types and a built-in recording function (WAV format via USB), the C1X TA3 opens up a wide range of possibilities for practice, composition and creative music-making.
