Accessibility Statement

We want everyone – regardless of their abilities – to be able to browse and shop comfortably in our online shop. This page explains how we implement accessibility, where limitations remain and how you can report barriers to us.

Scope

This statement applies to the Musik-Ebert GmbH online shop at www.musik-ebert.de and our country shops musik-ebert.ch, musik-ebert.at and musik-ebert.fr. Our online shop is an e-commerce service within the meaning of the applicable European accessibility legislation.

Legal basis and standards

We strive to make our online shop accessible in line with Directive (EU) 2019/882 (European Accessibility Act), implemented in Germany by the Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG). Our technical benchmarks are the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, conformance level AA, and the European standard EN 301 549.

Our service

Musik Ebert is a specialist music retailer with a shop in Konstanz, Germany, and an online store. In our online shop you can view, compare and order musical instruments and accessories: find products via search or category navigation, see descriptions, photos and prices on the product page, add items to the cart and complete your order at checkout – with common payment methods and an order confirmation by e-mail. If you have questions, you can reach us by e-mail or phone (see our contact page).

Accessibility measures

To make our shop usable for as many people as possible, we focus on:

  • keyboard operability on the main pages and throughout the ordering process,
  • compatibility with common screen readers (e.g. NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack),
  • alternative texts for product images (ongoing roll-out, see below),
  • sufficient colour contrast for text and interactive elements,
  • zooming up to 200% without loss of content,
  • a clear page structure with headings, lists and labelled form fields,
  • a responsive design for desktop, tablet and smartphone.

The checkout is provided by our shop platform Shopify, which continuously develops it further with regard to accessibility.

Conformance status

Our online shop is partially conformant with the requirements mentioned above. We review accessibility regularly – using automated testing tools, manual checks and complementary external expert review – and are working through the limitations listed below step by step.

Known limitations

Based on our self-assessment (as of July 2026), the following limitations currently remain:

  • Around 4% of product images do not yet have alternative texts for screen readers; we are adding them.
  • Some coloured highlights, in particular sale labels on product tiles, do not yet consistently meet the required colour contrast.
  • On some product and information pages the heading order is not fully logical, which can make screen reader navigation harder.
  • A few interactive elements, for example breadcrumb links, are smaller than recommended.
  • Some tables in our guide articles do not have complete column headers.
  • Embedded third-party content, such as product videos or manufacturer data sheets in PDF format, is partly not fully accessible.

We are fixing these issues step by step and will update this statement accordingly.

Reporting barriers: feedback and contact

Have you encountered a barrier, or do you need content in an accessible format? Write to us at info@musik-ebert.de (subject line “Accessibility”). We usually reply within five working days. You can also reach us via our contact page.

Enforcement and market surveillance

The authority responsible for monitoring accessibility requirements under the German BFSG is the Market Surveillance Body of the Federal States for the Accessibility of Products and Services (MLBF), Carl-Miller-Straße 6, 39112 Magdeburg, Germany, e-mail: kontakt@mlbf-barrierefrei.de, web: www.mlbf-barrierefrei.de. For Austria and France, the respective national market surveillance authorities are competent. If you believe our shop does not meet the requirements and we have not been able to resolve your concern, you can contact these bodies.
